Asbury Trip

Well, you'll never guess where I was last weekend! I went on my first college visit at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. I was with an alumni of the school, Corrie, and our friend Jenna. It was SO much fun! I loved the campus and the people there. It was such a fun experience. So yeah, who knows if I'll attend there, but it was very neat visiting a college, sitting in on a few classes and sleeping in a dorm. ;)
That was my amazing weekend. Until I write again... Hugs! ~Rose

A good place

Dear people,

There is not a lot for me to write about, which is why I haven't! I've gotten into a routine with school, work, sleeping, eating, homework... you know, all those things that make life monotonous. Now, for the things that make life beautiful: laughter, friends and family, sunshine, chocolate, long walks on the beach, music, books, oh I could go on forever. :) For me, right now, in this moment, life is GOOD! The beautiful things in life are outshining the frustrating moments, and I'm actually loving my new schedule. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. I feel like singing that song from Sound of Music...

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

And on that note I say:
"There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate."
-Charles Dickens

Yes, I have been eating chocolate from a friend during this whole post. lol ;)

Until next time my dears. X
Be amazed by our perfect God...

Fun, fun, fun

The Feast was fantastic! Here's a small taste...

The past week has been amazing, Grayson and I got a taste of being home alone overnight. Hahah. The house was extremely quiet. Yeah, it was weird. ;)

This weekend we're staying at our friend's house. Friends rock! :D

Well, that's it for now. toodles!

10/06/2010

An Amazing Saturday!

Wow, busy weekend and an even busier one coming up!

Saturday I got my....... drumroll please.......

DRIVER'S LICENSE!!! Yes, I am SO excited. :D I passed the driving test with flying colors. lol. The first time I actually drove on my own was extremly different. I was like, "bye mom, this is so weird!" Then I was praying for God to protect me. ;)

Not to mention, I also got a FACEBOOK PAGE, which is major for me! :) It was just an all out good day.

Sunday was cleaning day, like normal. In the afternoon Margaret and I went to a couple in our church's house. We put organized and put together boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Which is a totally amazing ministry, you should check it out and put together a box! It is so fun to go out and buy things for some needy child somewhere and then to imagine their faces when they open their "christmas box". It's a totally priceless experience!

That about wraps it up for now. Oh, the reason this coming weekend is going to be so busy... The Feast of Tabernacles is here!! Don't forget to come. lol. My aunt Elaine from Washington is coming to visit also, which I'm so looking forward to. Our first dance rehersal is tonight at the church and then there's a dance rehersal tomorrow night with the opening night on Friday. So exciting!

A Reasoned Response to Teen Dating Essay

Hello dear people. Like I said I would, here is my essay on teen dating that I turned into my composition teacher last week. I'm all about balance so I can argue both sides of pretty much anything, but here's my argument against teen dating. BTW, for you curious persons I received a 48/50 (I had one incomplete sentence, darn, that's what comes from editing at midnight!) and my teacher said I mastered the 5 paragraph essay very well. So, read on and let me know what you think...
A Reasoned Response to Teen Dating

There are many different opinions on the subject of dating during the teen years.  Here are three reasons why I choose to not participate in teen dating: it wastes valuable time, it can destroy quality friendships and it presents unique temptations.
To begin with, relationships are time consuming.  Besides getting together throughout the week there are long phone calls, texts and email exchanges, and constant thought given to this individual.  The teenage years are foundational for learning life skills, and finding and developing your calling.  Taking time away from this crucial season may affect you greatly later on.  Your hobbies, school, and work can also suffer from this partnership.  Chances are teen relationships will not last long and giving so much undivided attention to a passing attachment can result in loss of vital time that you can never regain.
In addition, spending time with family and friends is important and these relationships can suffer during this period and after.  Maintaining friendships with quality people may become hard when spending large amounts of time with one individual.  If the relationship doesn’t last, the bond you developed with this person can be hurt resulting in the loss of a good friend.
Finally, spending undivided time with one guy or girl almost always leads into some kind of temptation.  In a lot of cases causing you to stumble over a boundary which you set up with the best of intentions.  The more unbroken time you spend with a certain individual, the closer you become and without being aware you form attachments that last long after the relationship has ended and cause you to act in a way you may later regret.
Because teen dating is a matter of responsibility and personal choice, I have taken the time to think through my reasons for not participating.  In the end, wasting precious time, harming valuable friendships, and facing numerous temptations are three reasons why I disagree that teen dating is necessary.

IDF

So, I am at my one friend's apartment where we had a sleepover last night with another friend... yeah. Friends are fun, what can I say! The point of the sleepover, like sleepovers have to have a point besides fun, was so we could all get up and go to IDF this morning. For those of you who've been wondering "what the heck is IDF???", it is the Israeli Dance Fellowship and we are practicing for the Feast of Tabernacles, which is a biblical feast our church celebrates and it is totally awesome you should come. Phew. Here's the link to the event's website: http://sukkot.churchmessiah.org/. BTW, is this font color hard to read? I find it quite difficult. :D Well I am going to go make some cinnamon rolls for our breakfast and then finish getting ready for our rehearsal. Oh and yes, I am quite hyper today! Love yas.

Picnic & School

Hi. :D :D :D

Today was our church picnic. It was awesome. I love spending time with my friends and just chillin'. The weather cooperated for us which was good. Wow, those were some choppy sentences. ;)

School is going really well. So far I've taken 3 quizzes in class, had 2 take home quizzes, read 16 chapters of "Quo Vadis", had 5 pages of written homework, answered questions to 6 chapters of my bible books, and written 2 essays. Keep in mind this is only my "part-time" private school work and I have only gone 4 days over 2 weeks. Holy guacamole! Anyway, it is definitely pushing me which is what I wanted from this experience.

But yeah, if I pop into your brain randomly during the day, please say a little prayer because I'll be needing it. I love being dramatic. *cheesy grin*

One of these fine days I'll post the essay I had to write for composition class on dating. Either the pros or cons side, I choose the cons!

So yeah, hope you have a good week........ :))))))

Blog you later my adoring fans,
ROZ

Trip to Washington

Washington, oh how I love her! Seattle, Washington is my "hometown" I was born and lived there for my first 4 years. Then we moved cross country to boring ol' Dayton, Ohio. :) Yes, I am hard on Ohio but I really do love it here, the people are fantastic. ;) I've made some wonderful friends, it is a great place to raise a family. Anyway, back to my trip there this Summer. I was there for two weeks (in July), the first with the rest of my family, minus dad, and the last with Grayson, my brother (he's 18 mo. younger). When we arrived we drove down to Cannon Beach, Oregon with my aunt, 2 cousins, and my grandma. We spent time remembering my dear Grandpa Ray, a blessed memory. It was a wonderful time, everyone got along splendidly, being at the beach was great, and I got to watch my cousins, Ethan 5, and Logan 2, who are sooooo cute!! The beach trip lasted about 5 days and then my Grandpa Don & Grandma Linda picked Grayson and I up and we drove back to their home in Portland. After a wonderful weekend filled with my Aunt Lindsay, baseball, the farmer's market, swimming and a day at their mountain cabin (awesome!), we traveled back up to Washington, to Puyallup where my Papa & Nana reside. The week with Pops and Nans was filled with lots of family, a visit to Pt. Defiance park (I love that place!), the underground Seattle tour, church, eating out :), shopping, and lots of hanging out. Their place is like my second home. Wonderful memories. Well that's is a snapshot of my visit to beautiful Washington and Oregon.

Shoot!

Just a photo shoot. ;) One of my bestest friends is a wonderful photographer and we went out last week and she took some photos of mwa for fun. Some of them turned out really well. You can check them out here: Rosalind's Photo Shoot <3

Started school last week, I will write more on that interesting, enjoyable, different, new, fun, hard, amazing, great, silly experience filled with lots of homework, new friends, and understanding teachers when I get a chance! :)

Driving School!

Drum roll please......... The classroom part of driving school is completed and I... PASSED! I know, big surprise, right? :p :D

Now I have to wait a month to do in-car instruction and then I'm free to take the driving test for my license. I can't wait!

That's about it for now. Just wanted to give you a little update. :)

8/22/2010

Phew

Yes, it has been awhile... Summer has been incredibly busy for me which means it has been going very quickly! I've been officially "16" for almost 2 months. Wow. Last week I began driving school and this week I finish it. Thanks goodness! 6 days for 4 hours is a long time. ;) Not to mention the other kids in the class give me no hope for my generation's future. There are a few exceptions to that. Yes, I can be very hard on my own, but I have the right, right?!! Oh, something you should know... a yellow light means to clear the intersection, not "floor it". A very important distinction, wink wink!

We had a Haverim School weekend over the 13th (The Center for JC Studies, where my dad is the director and I'm the student liaison) with Dwight Pryor. One of the things I look forward to every year. I love meeting people from all over the world and the fellowship is amazing! It's very sad when it's all over, but then I start looking forward to the next one. :)

I began a journal for my 16th year. So far I have been faithful to it, which is shocking! I have been really focusing on my prayer life with the Lord and re-reading The Power of a Praying Teen. I find it so helpful to write down who you are lifting up in prayer and interesting to look back on later.

I will attempt to keep my posts closer together!
Hearts.

New Look?!

Hey, how do you like the blogs new look? I think it's neat. :)

This weeks everyone's schedule is crazy, Nathaniel has swim lessons, Margaret VBS, Grayson's baseball. Pretty hectic! But I'm loving the Summer life. Sweet! We had an awesome thunderstorm a couple days ago. It was loud. I love the 80 degree weather!

My 16 birthday is July 3rd. I am so excited!!

Okay, that's all. Talk to you later.

Love,
Rosalind

Smile :)

Hi... Summer is upon us!

Grayson's baseball is in full gear, so far he his team is undefeated in the season. We're so happy about that. He mainly plays shortstop and pitches.

It's just been the normal hustle and bustle, I think we are calming down a little bit though with the loss of focused learning. My pre-Algebra book is done. Yay! I am now looking forward to finishing Algebra and getting back on track. ;)

My guild is complete. I did well... like usual. I don't even know why I stress so much! Next year will be my 10th and final year and for that I praise God. :D :D :D

We don't have major summer plans. Late July we are traveling to Washington for 2 weeks. I always look forward to our trips there and wish I could stay forever! My family rocks. :) Oh, and... my sweet 16 is July 3rd. I can't believe it!

Hugs,

-Rosalind-

Hi dear readers,

Wow have I been totally lazy when it comes to blogging. I almost forgot! My grandparents were here all last week, that was a lot of fun. Except, I got sick with a 103. fever, which I haven't had in years. Kind of bad timing. :) Tonight my dad and brother leave for about a week to visit his parents. I'm jealous! I love going to Washington!! If you think of it, on Friday I have my national piano guild, so please pray! I preform 10 memorized pieces before a judge... I'm freaking out! I'll let you know how that goes.

Other than all that, life's been the norm. We are kinda rapping up school, I'm going to do math over the summer though. It's been raining this week and pretty chilly. Where's the beautiful Spring weather is what I want to know! Grayson's baseball season just officially started, he won his first game. Yay! He has a double header this Sunday, so let's hope it doesn't rain. ;) My church's Shavuot's celebration is this Saturday. We're doing a special dance, it should be a wonderful Spirit-filled evening. I'm looking forward to it.

Well for now, that's all. Hope you lives have been filled with all that good life stuff, oh, and lots of smiles!!
Until next time.
Many blessings and lots of hugs,

Rosebud

Busy... can you tell?

So yeah, I've been crazy busy, or atleast it feels like it. We've had so many people over the past couple weeks, and between school, work, piano, martial arts, it feels like I've been running all over the place! Some days are like that though. Piano guild is coming up so I'm getting stressed trying to memorize all my songs. That's always a trip. I began coaching level one classes in my To-Sin Do, plus my regular classes, and I graduate this month. It's so much fun though! Oh, and Grayson's baseball has been picking up and I hating missing any games. They are so fun to watch! He has a double header tomorrow, so we're excited. Although he got a big blister on his thumb and hurt his pinky the other day, so hopefully he can play. ;) Boys will be boys. My grandparents are coming to visit from Oregon in 2 weeks. It will awesome to see them again, it's been awhile. Oh, AND at work we have a Haverim School Weekend coming up which I'm the event coordinator for... I love getting to meet and talk to different people and all that, I'm looking forward to it.

Anyways, that's a little glimpse in to my life. I am 2 lessons away from finishing my pre-algebra, Praise the Lord! Then I start right up with Algebra, what a blast.

Hope you life has been exciting, lol!
Well many blessings until I write again, which may not be forever!! ;)
Love,
~Roses

Ahh, Spring break!

Happy April!!!!

So this week my gracious mother allowed us a Spring break. Praise the Lord! I definitely needed one. It seems like I've been running non-stop. ;) Last night my dad took Grayson and I to see Clash of the Titans. I really wanted to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D, but Grayson was not going to budge on his no! It wasn't bad, the 3D wasn't great, I guess it wasn't really made for it to begin with. That's okay, it's the experience that counts.

Well, on Friday we (my dad, Grayson, Kyle our neighbor, and I) went to Indianapolis to see the final 4 teams practice and to watch an allstar game. Pretty fun! I just love going to ball games of any sort, it's the energy and experience that makes it!

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous. In the 70ies... I heard tomorrow it's supposed to storm and drop to the 50ies... WHAT?!?! Major Bummer. lol

I'll write again.... soon.... I'm sure..... XOXOXOXOXOXOXO, Rosalind

BTW, hope your Resurrection Sunday/Easter was the best. He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!

3/31/2010

Busy!!

I've really been busy lately. Friday I was gone literally all day, I had Iowa testing, work, and then once I finally got home we had guests for dinner. Argh! Well, actually it's kinda nice to be busy. But once in awhile a break would be nice. ;) The weather is absolutly gorgeous today. I head it is supposed to be 70?!? NICE.

On Friday my dad, Grayson, one of Grayson's friends, and I are going down to Indianapolis for a free college allstar game. That should be fun. We are all about March Madness in my house! Actually, if we are watching it, I prefer basketball to most sports. It's pretty exciting. Oh, and I halfway understand it. lol. I love it when a guy fouls someone (on purpose) and then gets the biggest dumb dumb face when the ref calls it and is like "What the heck?!?!" Ah, yeah, it was kinda obvious dude!

So anyway, I won't be writing for another while. Have a g-r-8-t, hopefully sunny week!

Love,
Rosebud

Eating Skittles... yum!

I haven't decided what color skittles are my favorite. lol ;)

This weekend I finished reading Jane Eyre, and had a book discussion with some friends on it. We had a family over yesterday, that's always fun. The weather has been incredibly nice, not to hot or cold. Last night it rained though, I guess that's to be expected, Spring Showers! Oh, on Saturday I had a class at my dojo on coaching. I'm going to become a "coach" for level 1, that should be a lot of fun. A coach doesn't actually teach anything but goes around encouraging and helping people out if they have questions. Grayson started practicing baseball this week, months after most select teams began practice. Oh well, he's just happy to be moving again. ;) I can't wait for his first game, they are always fun to watch. I love telling him "I'm going to be your biggest cheerleader!", he just rolls his eyes because actually I hardly ever say anything at his games. lol. Brothers, gotta love 'em!

Well I'm rambling like usual. :D Have a g-r-e-a-t week!

Sunshine!

Fun Weekend?!?

I haven't had time to write this week! It's been pretty normal... eat, school, work, sleep, repeat. lol
At the Quest center (my martial arts) it was "bring a buddy" week, so all 3 of my younger siblings came into train at a level one class. That was a good experience for them! I think they all liked it in their own way. It was fun to share something with them that I love!

Um... hmm... what else can I think of to share with y'all. BTW how do you spell "you all" in a southern way? Is it y'all, ya'll, ya'all, ...?? Oh I don't know, who cares! :) Well tomorrow we have morning church and Dwight Pryor is speaking, it should be good. Than I have a birthday party for my adopted cousins who are turning 1, how cute! Sunday we are having a family over for lunch. So I've got a pretty loaded, fun weekend heading my way. Hope yours is as good as mine! ;)

Hugs, m'dears!

Full Weekend

Wow, I had a full weekend! It began with a beautiful Shabbot meal Friday evening. The pot roast was delicous! Church Saturday was wonderful as usual. Then I went home with my friend, Sarah, and was up till 3 helping finish her essay she was doing for a College Plus! scholarship competition. Sunday morning we went to our friend, Justin's house and he filmed her saying her essay and then edited the video. I think it turned out pretty well for such a short time. :) The subject for the essay was Revolutionizing Higher Education. I totally agree with Sarah's points, they're exactly what I think!! Check out the video here on You Tube - Sarah's Video Essay

Hope your weekend was as fun as mine! lol

Outfit of the Month #1

For this site, suddenlydarling.com, I posted the below picture for their "Darling of the Month" contest. It's not the cutest outfit, but I just took a picture of what I was wearing that day. I didn't really plan for it. :) What do you think?

While we're on your thoughts... lol... how do you like my new blog layout and look?

Valentines

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!

Make sure your family and friends know how much they mean to you this Sunday.

And BTW, just in case you were wondering, no, I don't have a 'special' boy. lol! I'm saving myself for the one. ;)

Temps and Snow!

I have my drivers temps!!!!!!!! Yeah, super excited... And my pic isn't half bad. lol ;)

On that note, the last few days we've been slammed with snow. About 12 inches I'd say. That's a lot for Ohio. My dad worked from home which was a lot of fun. One of the things about homeschooling though... no snow days! I didn't go out in it, but my brother and sister went sledding on several different occasions with neighbor kids. Oh, and had snowball fights! Looked like fun, but I was enjoying my inside view of the outside while sipping coffee and reading. ;)

Hope wherever you are you're staying warm in this wintry weather!
Hugs!!

2/08/2010

Hi-llo!

No, I haven't forgotten about the blog. It's been a busy weekend, sorry, I missed my "Fav Friday"! I promise not to next time. Friday was my mom's birthday, so it turned out to be a really nice day. It even snowed about 7 inches! It is SO beautiful... my mom loves snow so it was a nice addition for her b-day.

Did you watch the Superbowl too? I'm glad the Saints won... I always love the 'underdog', especially since they have NEVER won before! How cool is that? Actually, I didn't watch any of it. My bff came over and we talked through all 4 hours of it. I have never known a Superbowl to go by so fast! It's amazing the things you can think of to talk about for that long. lol!

Well, that's the new news from my house. Nothing much... Oh! Today I am going to get my temps, which is SUPER exciting! I've been waiting for this forever. So I straightened my hair and did my makeup really nice today. ;) I've already passed the test. That's the hardest part. Phew, thank goodness that's over! Actually, it wasn't that difficult. I'll let you know when I have my temps in hand!

Skiing

Here's the review of my ski trip, it's a week late. But what's that between friends? lol ;)

So, the result of my skiing trip? I was in bed all the next day with a bad cold and was super achy. My friend got her face all torn up by landing in the snow face down, actually it was more like ice. Yikes! All in all, I do have to admit it
was a wonderful experience. It's not as easy as it looks! I did fall quite a bit. The final run of the day was a really bad fall...

So my friend had talked me into going on a little more difficult hill. We rode the ski lift up and down we went. Well there was this wide curve and sitting in the middle of it was this group of snowboarding teenagers. Just sitting there! And yeah, long story short my friend and I crashed into each other trying to avoid hitting them. Guess what they did? Laughed. And said, "That was helarious, and we got it on video!". Ha ha ha. Hilarious, pure comedy, I'm sure. Well that's when she bashed her face and I hit the back of my head hard. We finally made it down. What a course to end on. So we're both super sore.

Grayson didn't have any traumatic falls, go figure! (he's the athletic one) It was quite an adventure, one I might do again sometime, but it would definetly take some talking into to get me to go back up on the "big" one. (It was probably the 4th "easiest" there. Ha)

Well aside from being a little sore with a stuffy nose, I'm getting over it. Don't get me wrong, it was quite a fun day all in all.

Hugs and bruises for now, :D

Day After

Grayson's birthday weekend was a success! And if you knew him, that's saying a lot. ;) We all had fun, and the double chocolate cake was yummy. Very chocolaty though! lol. Not much going on this week. Oh, tomorrow him and I are going skiing with some friends. It'll be our first time, so that should be interesting. I'm sure it will be fun. I'll let you know! That about sums it up. All the norm, piano, school, work, martial arts...

Bros bday comin up!

My dear brother is turning a major 14 this Sunday. Yea for him!  We're taking him bowling. That's always fun. Man, is everyone growing up except for me? I think I'm still 10... reality check lol. Never mind it's 6 months till my sweet 16. Yikes!! Okay, admittedly it is kind of fun growing up but if only there was a remote control to life with fast-forward and rewind. ;)

Happy Birthday to whoever's birthday it is!

Math... argh

So, as of this moment I am working, or struggling, on my math. I'm doing pre-algebra and trying to motivate myself to continue doing 2 lessons a week so that I can catch up to where I'm supposed to be based on my Freshman grade. I did pretty well last week considering it was uber easy (converting Celsius to Fahrenheit and back). Does anybody else struggle with mathematics?? I do Math-U-See, which has helped a lot compared to other programs.

I gotta go finish now... Bye!

And so it begins

Dear blog readers,
Thanks for tuning in! My goal is to keep this blog updated with fun filled posts about me and my family every couple of days. So keep checking back for an interesting read. Visit my profile for more on me and stay tuned!
Yours truly,
